Methamphetamine poses a great threat to our economy, our families, our health, and our real estate.

Do I need to test my property for methamphetamine?

Unfortunately, methamphetamine is a growing problem in New Zealand, and while it is not compulsory to test your rental property for meth, we highly recommend you do so. We can make full arrangements on your behalf, to engage a trusted testing service.

How can I protect my rental property against meth users?

Baseline testing remains the Tenancy Tribunal’s ‘best-practice’ recommendation to absolutely protect your rights of claim against a tenant, should there ever be contamination (which, of course, our vetting and management will do the very best to avoid). But, as sadly we know in life, there can be no guarantees.

Is there a way to detect if meth is being manufactured in my rental property?

If you’re concerned about meth contamination or the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine at a property, Goodwins can guide you through testing, safety steps and remediation. Our priority is the health and safety of occupants, contractors, our team and meeting your legal obligations as a landlord.

If you’d like a referral, or want a baseline test arranged, contact your Goodwins property manager or email info@goodwins.co.nz.
