Level 2 – Viewings Protocol

During Alert Level 2 does not allow real estate agents to operate “open homes”, in their traditional sense.

We must gather a little more information prior to welcoming you onsite, and ensure we can effectively contact trace every person that our business comes in contact with, in the unlikely event that this should become necessary.

Following the country’s transition to Alert Level 2 on the 14th of May, our offices re-opened to full hours from Monday 18 May 2020.

  1. We now offer both face to face and virtual rental appraisals. Read full detail of this virtual service.
  2. We continue to welcome new clients and activate full marketing campaigns.

  4. We will continue to process tenant’s applications, negotiate, and execute agreements via online methods with digital signatures, or via courier (in the exceptional circumstance that a person has no access to an internet connection).
  5. Physical property inspections are now also permitted, with very strict guidelines.

We shall also continue to provide comprehensive summaries to Goodwins’ landlord-clients and tenants; so, ensuring our clients have the most up to date information of how Covid-19 is impacting tenancy legislation and best practice protocols.

As we move from Alert Level 3 of New Zealand’s response to Covid-19, Tenancy Services have published this booklet that answers a series of technical questions around renting under Alert Level 2:

The symptoms of COVID-19 (as sourced from www.health.govt.nz) are:

  • a cough
  • a high temperature (at least 38°C)
  • shortness of breath.

These symptoms do not necessarily mean you have COVID-19.

The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu. Though, with special note that shortness of breath is a sign of possible pneumonia and requires immediate medical attention.

We don’t yet know how long symptoms take to show after a person has been infected, but current World Health Organization assessments suggest that it is 2–10 days.
